Earning a Degree

American Pacific University accepts learners from all over the world. Any learner who is not a citizen of the U.S. and its territories will be considered an international learner. Since all instruction at our university is in English, prospective international learners will be required to establish their written and spoken English proficiency. American Pacific University does not provide visa services to its foreign learners. However, due to the online study format of the program, it is not necessary to spend anytime at American Pacific University facilities.

The learner completes all work through online delivery. With staff advisor approval, he/she may choose to complete the degree by fulfilling requirements of assigned course work, in addition to a comprehensive capstone project or practicum that is required for graduation.

Degree credit is earned the following ways:

1 - Assigned Online Courses:

The purpose of the degree program at American Pacific University is to provide academically excellent learning, acquired on a much more flexible basis than can be accomplished at traditional colleges and universities. This is accomplished by academic work done in the learner’s home and/or office. American Pacific University uses an online course format with courses in 8 week sessions, with weekly assignments. All courses are three (3) credit hours.

Each American Pacific University graduate term encompasses multiple hours of guidance and facilitation weekly via Internet and interactive online discussions.

There is a course syllabus furnished to the learner for each course which identifies important concepts and lists performance requirements. The performance requirements are designed to facilitate the learner’s demonstration of his/her knowledge and understanding of the course material. This provides the basis upon which the learner’s academic progress is measured by university staff. In each instance, the learner must demonstrate to the instructor that he/she has mastered a proficiency in the subject area.

Reading, investigation, and research are all required of the learner. Written assignments, reports, and examinations must demonstrate that the learner has mastered the subject material. All work is submitted online according to scheduled deadlines and timetables as prescribed in the course syllabus.

2 - Capstone Project:

All learners in the Master’s Degree Program are required to complete a thesis or practicum project of 6 credit hours, in order to graduate.
