Computation of Grade Point Average

A Grade Point Average (GPA) for each learner is calculated at the end of each term. This average is computed for the current term's work and is cumulative for the entire period the learner is registered in the University. The GPA is the average number of grade points per credit hours completed. The minimum grade point average required for graduation from American Pacific University is 3.0 for the graduate level. The number of points for a course is calculated by multiplying the points by the number of credit hours. The points are combined and added for all courses and divided by the total number of credit hours to produce the overall GPA (codes of "I", "P", "NR", "S", "U", "W", "WM", "WP" and "WF" are excluded from the calculation).

Academic Honesty

Academic honesty is the cornerstone of learning and that holds true with the online campus and learning processes as well as any other American Pacific University situation. Essentially, each American Pacific University learner must always submit work that represents his or her own original work and/or ideas. Learners must use the appropriate citations and references in all their work. Examples of dishonesty would include: having a tutor or friend complete a portion of your assignments, having a viewer make extensive revisions to an assignment, and not citing work properly.

Academic honesty is expected at American Pacific University. Breaches of academic honesty include cheating, plagiarism, misrepresentation, bribery, and/or the unauthorized distribution (electronic or hard copy) or position of documents not formally released by facilitators. Learners must always submit work that represents original effort and ideas. If any words or ideas used in a posting or assignment are not the learner's original work, the learner is expected to cite all relevant sources and make clear the extent to which such sources were used.

Learners should contact American Pacific University for more information or clarification of academic honesty, including its possible consequences.

Consequences

Violation of American Pacific University's Academic Honesty policy may result in academic penalties and/or disciplinary action. The individual facilitator has the discretion to fail the learner on a given assignment, for a particular part of the course, or even give a failing grade for the course. Violation of Academic Honesty may be referred to the Academic Review Committee for review; the result of which could be expulsion or suspension.
